Power Distribution Network Reconfiguration


The network reconfiguration is required in case of fault in feeders. In faulty conditions it is required to meet the load demand of consumers. To achieve this additional capacitor banks or distribution generators are attached to feeder which are used to minimise the power losses due to fault and to gain maximum voltage profile. A set of switches are opened and closed to optimally reduce the losses. The new structure thus formed should also maintain the radial structure of feeder. This opening and closing of switches is the task with many non linear constraints and non linear equations as discussed in previous chapter. To get an optimal set of switches to be closed, we used PSO-GSA optimisation algorithm and simulation is done in MATLAB.
